This approach is a tough love method; it may not suit everyone and is best for those who have greater potential but are currently hindered by their mindset or behaviors. It is designed for individuals who can appreciate blunt communication. The goal is to jolt you out of complacency and motivate you to take control of your life. Do you want the freedom to make your own choices? Keep in mind that this freedom comes with the responsibility of living with those choices.
As a young person, it’s important to understand that life doesn’t come with a manual. Success isn’t handed to you, and no one can completely guide you through difficulties. At some point, you have to accept that your life is your responsibility.
Every choice, action, and decision you make shapes your future. This may be difficult to accept, but embracing this truth is the first step toward unlocking your full potential. So, are you ready to take full ownership of your life? Let’s start.
Foundation
God has already provided you with everything you need to succeed, but you must do your part. The Bible clearly states that we should work hard and be diligent in our endeavors.
Proverbs 12:24 says, “The hand of the diligent will rule, while the lazy will be put to forced labor.” Proverbs 14:23 reminds us, “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” Similarly, Proverbs 21:5 tells us, “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” James 2:26 emphasizes that “faith without works is dead.” Lastly, 2 Peter 1:3 declares, “His divine power has granted us everything we need for life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his glory and excellence.” God has provided the tools, but it’s up to you to use them, to put in the effort, and to take responsibility for your journey.
Colossians 2:10 “And you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.
Luke 19:12-26 (Parable of the Ten Minas) “A nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return. Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Engage in business until I come.’” (The lesson: Those who multiplied what they had were rewarded, but the one who did nothing lost what he had.) Proverbs 22:29 “Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.” Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
1 Peter 4:10 “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”
No One Is Coming to Save You
Let’s get straight to the point—your life is entirely in your hands. No one is coming to pull you out of your struggles, hand you success, or fix your messes. The sooner you digest this, the better. Excuses, blaming others, or waiting for a lucky break will only keep you stuck. If you want something, you have to go after it. Period.
Master Your Sexual Urges—They Can Make or Break You
One of the biggest reasons many young people fail is a lack of self-control, especially in relationships. Poor choices in this area can derail your future—financially, emotionally, and mentally. Guard your standards. Don’t settle for anything just because it’s available. Your future deserves better than impulsive decisions.
Compete Less, Learn More
If you meet someone smarter than you, work with them. Stop seeing every capable person as a competition. The right connections can take you further than your ego ever will. Growth-minded people collaborate; those driven by insecurity compete. Choose wisely my friend.
Discipline Over Self-Help Books
You don’t need to read 100 self-help books to get your life together if you’re not going to act. we glorify reading these books, making it seem like the more books you consume, the more successful you’ll be. But without action, all that knowledge is useless. You’ll only end up as someone who knows a lot but does nothing—an intelligent fool. You can consume all the advice in the world, but if you don’t apply it, nothing changes. True growth comes from doing, not just reading. You need discipline. Stop consuming motivation and start implementing it. The people you admire didn’t get there by just reading—they got there by implementing.
Learn Useful Skills Instead of Wasting Time
Every skill you need is available for free online, and you are fortunate to live in this time. YouTube can teach you more than most universities can. Instead of spending time unproductively indulging on Netflix or endlessly scrolling through social media, invest your time in learning something useful. Whether it’s coding, business, marketing, or personal finance, the knowledge is out there. Be willing to seize the opportunity.
Get Over Yourself—No One Cares
This is a harsh truth, but it’s liberating once you accept it. No one is watching your every move. No one is thinking about you as much as you think they are. So stop being shy. Stop overanalyzing. Stop waiting for the perfect moment. Go out and create your own chances. I’m saying this because I care: You’re better than you think . Stop whining, stop seeking attention, and start making a real impact. The world needs your strength/your solution, not your self-pity, naivety, ignorance, complains or blame games.
Comfort Is the Most Dangerous Addiction
A comfortable life is easy to slip into, but it’s a slow death. Comfort keeps you from growing, from chasing dreams, from becoming better. It’s a cheap ticket to depression. Struggle now so you can live freely later. Give your all. The world is changing faster than ever.
Automation, globalization, economic shifts – the only constant is change. Clinging to comfort is a recipe for disaster. The skills you have today might be obsolete tomorrow. The safe job might disappear. The harsh truth? The best way to future-proof your life is to embrace discomfort. Constantly learn, adapt, and push yourself beyond your limits. That’s the real security in today’s world. Because Deep down, most of us crave something more than just comfort. We want meaning, purpose, connection. But comfort can be a barrier to those things. It keeps us in our bubble, preventing us from experiencing the challenges and growth that lead to true fulfilment. The most authentic, meaningful lives are often lived outside the comfort zone. Embrace the unknown, take risks, and discover what you’re truly capable of.
Prioritize Family—No Matter What
Your family isn’t perfect. No one is. But they are yours. Protect them. Cover their weaknesses. Defend them even when they mess up. No one else will ever have your back like family. Prioritize Family—But with Wisdom
Family isn’t perfect—no one’s is. Yet, they are the people you are bound to by blood, history, and shared experiences. It’s natural to want to protect them, cover their weaknesses, and stand by them even in their lowest moments. At the end of the day, no one else will ever have the same depth of connection with you.
But while loyalty to family is important, it should never come at the cost of your well-being. Mutual love, respect, and support should be a two-way street, not a burden that only you carry. Some family relationships are uplifting, while others can be draining, toxic, or even harmful.
Loving your family doesn’t mean tolerating abuse, manipulation, or constant negativity. Sometimes, protecting yourself means setting boundaries. You can honor and respect them without allowing their dysfunction to define your life.
So, prioritize family, but with wisdom. Defend them when they need you, but also recognize when a relationship is one-sided or toxic. Love deeply, but don’t let blind loyalty trap you in a cycle of pain. True family is built on mutual care, not just obligation.
Find Opportunities and Learn from Those Ahead of You
Success provides valuable insights. If an individual has attained the level of achievement you aspire to reach, it is essential to study their journey. Learn from their experiences, as a life coach may not necessarily be a billionaire but can still guide you in developing the mindset and habits necessary for pursuing your success objectives. Success reveals certain patterns, and so does failure. Therefore, it is crucial not only to seek wisdom from those who have accomplished significant feats but also to understand the challenges faced by those who have encountered setbacks. Inquire about their difficulties, the obstacles they confronted, and the strategies they employed to overcome them. These narratives can be equally, if not more, beneficial than stories of success. It is important to recognize that everyone encounters missteps. The key is to learn from these experiences and continue progressing forward.
Trust Cautiously—Believe in Yourself First
Blind trust is foolishness. Not everyone around you wants the best for you. Be wise. Listen, but verify. Take responsibility for your own choices. At the end of the day, your belief in yourself matters more than anyone else’s opinion.
Hard Work and Humility Open Doors
Hard work is essential. Determination helps you push past obstacles, while humility takes you even further. Those who succeed are the ones willing to put in the effort, stay consistent, and keep learning. However, hard work alone is not enough; you also need humility. Arrogance can close doors faster than anything else. Be willing to learn, be open to feedback, and give credit where it’s due. This combination of hard work and humility is what truly opens doors.
The World Won’t Slow Down for You
Life is moving, with or without you. If you choose to waste time, complain, or stay stuck in your excuses, life will not wait for you to catch up. Get moving. Nobody owes you anything. Not a job, not success, not happiness, not even your parents t, teachers, or mentors. Do you want those things? You have to earn them. The world rewards those who work hard, adapt quickly, and bring value to the table. Complaining about how unfair life is or how unrealistic the government is or how people treated you? That gets you nowhere. Also, your degree/academic cert is a piece of paper, not a guarantee. An academic certificate can open doors, but it doesn’t guarantee success. You’re not special. Harsh, but true. Everyone has dreams, everyone has potential. What sets people apart is their work ethic, their determination, and their ability to execute. This world environment rewards those who put in the effort, not those who just dream about it. It also values skills, experience, and the ability to adapt. Keep learning, keep growing, and keep building your skillset.
While still on this, It’s good to remember Time is your most valuable asset. Don’t waste it. Stop scrolling mindlessly, stop procrastinating, and stop making excuses. Invest your time wisely, in things that matter, in things that will move you forward.
Gaming
Your mental health is not an excuse for lack of effort: Gaming can be a great way to relax and unwind, but it’s not a healthy coping mechanism for avoiding responsibilities. If you’re struggling with mental health issues, seek help. But if you’re using gaming as a way to avoid dealing with your problems, it’s time to take a step back and re-evaluate your priorities.Set boundaries and prioritize self-care: It’s okay to enjoy gaming, but it’s not okay to let it consume your life.. Make time for exercise, meditation, and spending time with loved ones. Understand that gaming can be a double-edged sword. It can provide a much-needed escape, but it can also become a trap that keeps you from facing reality. If you find yourself spending hours in front of a screen while your responsibilities pile up, it’s time to confront the truth. You are in control of your choices, and it’s your responsibility to ensure that your hobbies enhance your life rather than hinder it.
Challenge yourself to create a balanced routine. Designate specific times for gaming, and stick to them. Treat gaming like a reward for accomplishing your tasks rather than a refuge from them. This not only helps you manage your time better but also allows you to enjoy your gaming sessions guilt-free. When you play after completing your responsibilities, you can truly savor the experience instead of feeling the weight of what you’re avoiding.
Moreover, don’t underestimate the importance of social connections. Gaming can be a social activity, but if it’s your only form of interaction, it may be time to step back. Reach out to friends and family, engage in face-to-face conversations, or participate in community activities. Building real-life relationships can provide the support and fulfillment that gaming alone can’t offer. Other excuses include; ‘Gaming sharpens your thinking’—but that’s not the whole picture. Yes, strategy games improve problem-solving skills, and fast-paced games can boost reflexes. But let’s be real—most of you aren’t gaming for “mental training.” They’re playing for escape, dopamine hits, and procrastination. Using the “gaming sharpens my mind” as excuse while your real-life responsibilities are crumbling? That’s self-deception. ‘It Gives Me a Sense of Achievement” Games are designed to reward you with ranks, trophies, and points—but none of that translates to real-world success. If you’re chasing in-game achievements while avoiding personal goals, you’re living in a false reality. Your biggest wins should be in real life, not just on a leaderboard. “It’s a Hobby Like Any Other” Fair point—but a hobby should add to your life, not take over. If gaming is stopping you from developing skills, improving yourself, or handling responsibilities, it’s no longer a hobby—it’s an addiction in disguise. “I Could Go Pro” – Absolutely, esports can be a legitimate career. However, let’s face reality—most will never reach that level. If you’re serious about gaming as a profession, are you training like an athlete, acquiring business skills, and building a network? Or are you merely using this as a way to excuse countless hours of aimless gaming? It’s time to get real about your intentions. “It’s Better Than Worse Habits Like Drugs or Alcohol” Sure, gaming is less harmful than substance abuse, but that doesn’t mean it’s harmless. Comparing gaming to destructive habits is a weak excuse for avoiding self-improvement. Just because something isn’t the worst thing doesn’t mean it’s good for you. “It’s What I Love to Do” Loving something doesn’t mean it’s good for you. If gaming is your passion, find a way to make it work for you, whether through content creation, game development, do courses like animation and build your life from that, or esports. Otherwise, balance it with real-world goals so that your passion doesn’t become a trap.
Remember, it’s about finding that balance. Embrace gaming as a hobby, but don’t let it define you. Use it as a tool for relaxation, not an escape route. Your mental health matters, but so do your responsibilities and relationships. Take charge of your life, and make choices that reflect the person you want to be. You have the power to change your narrative, so don’t shy away from the hard work it takes to do so.
Life Is a Single-Player Game
When it’s all said and done, you’re responsible for your own journey. You came into this world alone, because even your parents/guardians are temporary caretakers, and one day, you’ll leave it alone. Make it count. Build something meaningful. Create a life that reflects your efforts, discipline, and character.
We each have our own unique experiences, challenges, and perspectives, shaping the individual journey we undertake. While we may share moments and connections with others, ultimately, the responsibility for our choices, actions, and the direction of our lives rests solely with us.
This realization can be both empowering and daunting. It underscores the importance of self-reliance, personal growth, and taking ownership of your lives. you cannot simply wait for things to happen or rely on others to pave the way for you. Instead, you must actively pursue your goals, overcome obstacles, and create the life you envision.
Now, take control. No more waiting. No more excuses. Your life is 100% your responsibility. Own it.
Prayer
Lord, help me to take full responsibility for my life. Give me the strength to work hard, the wisdom to make the right choices, and the discipline to stay committed. Remove excuses from my heart and fill me with courage to take action. Guide my steps and bless the work of my hands.
In Jesus Christ’s name Amen.
